Knoxville Seniors Contribute to Panther Softball

Knoxville Softballs three seniors contributed in many ways. Bree South was a utility player who likely in her career played every position except pitcher and catcher. Tara McCombs played right field and was named the Offensive Player of the Year by the coaching staff. Ashley Kingery finished a fine career behind the plate and was voted the teams Most Valuable Player for the 2009 season. Coach Jerry Nikkel says all three will be missed. In additionNikkel also won his 500th career game. He says it never dawned on him until the postseason was beginning and he learned he had 487 wins coming into this seasonNikkel spent nine seasons at Pella Christianten seasons at Marshalltown and just completed his third season at Knoxville. He now owns a 505-and-395 record in 22 seasons as a head coach.
