The Knoxville City Council approved a recommendation by the city Naming Committee Monday to name the tennis courts at Young’s Park after coach Joel Tonda. Knoxville Mayor Harv Sprafka says an official title of the tennis courts with Tonda’s name will be presented in the future. The council also voted to approve plans and specifications for the 2009 Newbold Drive Sewer Extension project. The project, which would extend the sewer mains to serve the area east of Weiler Industries, the Iowa DOT facility and the area south of Newbold Drive, has an estimated cost of $244,875.
