A soft rain fell on Knoxville as around 200 people attended a celebration and cookout at the VA Campus Thursday. Entitled “Celebrating the Past and Looking to the Future”, the event was hosted by the Knoxville Division of the VA Central Iowa Health Care System. Area veterans, volunteers and the general public heard guest speakers, and saw video and pictures of the Knoxville VA Campus, with food, entertainment, and more. A VA spokeswoman says the event was a chance to pay tribute to the contributions of the community, veterans and VA employees who served or have been served by the Knoxville VA over the past 60 years.
