Pella football started their season with a bang scoring on their first offensive play of the season when Brett Bogaard scored on a 35 yard run on their way to a 47-8 road win at Washington Friday night. Leading 14-0 in the second quarter mistakes started mounting against Pella costing them a touchdown and allowing the momentum to shift away from them. Coach Jay Mckinstrey says overall he was proud of how the kids played for the season opener but notes there are improvement needed. He says traditional teams improve the most between week one and week two of the season and he says they will work on quite a few different things this week in practice to prepare for Oskaloosa in their home opener Friday night
