The Marion County Sheriff’s Office tells KNIA/KRLS that they have been receiving calls about a supposed Amber Alert that has been issued for a missing child in Monroe County. Sheriff Goemaat says that any text messages or e-mails about such an alert are not factual. If law enforcement authorities feel there is a situation requiring an Amber alert to be issued, KNIA/KRLS will be contacted to issue the alert through our Emergency Alert System.

If an Amber Alert is in effect, KNIA / KRLS Radio will either issue the alert from our Emergency Alert System our receive the alert from other broadcast sources via our Emergency Alert System. This is the same Emergency Alert System that all weather watches and warnings are sent and received from by the National Weather Service.

KNIA/KRLS brings you the most up to date information first, fast and accurately.
