Applications for the 2009-2010 Low-Income Home Energy Assistance program – or “LIHEAP” – will begin being accepted later this fall. The program has been established to help qualifying low-income Iowa homeowners and renters pay a portion of their primary heating costs. For Marion County, The Red Rock Area Community Action Program will be taking applications beginning November 2nd. Applicants wil need to furnish some form of identification, a copy of their most recent heating and electric bill, telephone bill, and proof of all household members’ gross income for the past three months or past calendar year. The program is not designed to pay a household’s total energy costs, but will provide assistance based on several factors. Those with questions can call the Red Rock Area Community Action Program at 641-842-6571.
