Central Volleyball Falls to Cornell For First Time Since 1987

Cornell swept the Central College volleyball team 25-18, 25-21, 26-24 last night in Iowa Conference volleyball action. It was Cornell’s first win over the Dutch since a five-set decision in 1987 and ended a 20-match Central win streak. Dutch outside hitter Michelle Ripperger had 14 kills to lead Central who dropped to 12-4 overall and 1-2 in the Iowa Conference . Libero Chelsea Greiger a sophomore from Pella had 26 digs. Central has a tough weekend coming as they compete in the Minnesota Conference vs Iowa Conference Border Battle at Loras College in Dubuque this weekend and face three nationally ranked opponents. Friday the Dutch take on Gustavus Adolphus and No. 19-ranked St. Benedict. Saturday Central meets No. 6 St. Thomas and No. 17 Concordia-Moorhead.
