The deadline to file paperwork to be on the ballot for City Council elections is fast approaching, but things have been pretty quiet at Pella City Hall. Three council seats are up for election in Pella, with Councilmen Bruce Schiebout and Mark De Jong filing for re-election to the Ward 3 and At-Large Seats, respectively. The other seat up for election is in Ward 1 – occupied by Dan Vander Beek, who is expected to file paperwork, but had not as of noon Tuesday. Pella City Clerk Ronda Brown tells KNIA/KRLS News that other candidates have taken out paperwork, but nothing had been returned. The deadline to turn in nomination paperwork for the city council is 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
