Agricultural experts are anticipating a record grain harvest this fall, and that is expected to create a need for storage. Gene Poortinga, Grain Manager at Two Rivers Cooperative in Pella says they should have plenty of storage space, even with a large harvest; which includes a half-million bushel bunker in Otley and available space to pile grain on the ground if necessary. Larry Hiemstra, a salesman at Barker Implement in Knoxville, says he has seen an increase in grain storage structures in the area, as producers seek to store more grain themselves this year. Projections are calling for over 13 billion bushels of corn alone harvested nationwide.
