H1N1 vaccines should be delivered to Marion County by the end of October. Public Health Director Kim Dorn says the vaccines will then first be distributed to ‘priority groups’: pregnant women, people who care for children younger than six months, health care personnel with direct patient contact, and children six months through four years and children five through 18 years of age who have chronic medical conditions. Once more vaccine becomes available, Dorn says the priority groups will expand. Dorn also encourages the general public to get their standard flu shot now.
