The Pella football team finds themselves in a situation they haven’t faced in quite some time…fighting to keep their playoff hopes alive with just four games remaining in the regular season. FollowIng their suprising loss at Carlisle last Friday, Pella sits in fifth place at 1-2 in Class 3A District 6 knowing that only the top four teams at the end of the season advance to the post season. Pella coach Jay Mckinstrey says the job at hand this week has been to get the kids minds off of all that and concentrate on getting back to playing football like they know they can. He says that’s the leadership he hopes to see this week from his seniors. The Little Dutch will have to bounce back quickly as they host undefeated co-district leader Grinnell Friday night. A win keeps them in the hunt, and although a loss won’t necessarily eliminate their hopes it will certainly make it tougher. You can hear Fridays game streamed live on kniakrls.com with Jamie Brockman and Randy Sikkema starting at 7pm with a delayed broadcast at 11pm on 92.1 FM KRLS.
