Over 200 volunteers from 14 different communities assembled in Knoxville Saturday, as part of a “service surge” organized by “A Call To Serve” or ACTS, Ministries of Iowa and a city planning committee. Joel Bennett, co-founder and executive director of ACTS, says the “surge” saw the volunteers spread out across town doing scraping and painting projects, a dry walling project, construction of a wheelchair ramp, and general property clean-up, among other activities which polished the community.
