An author of several books on civic responsibility and public policy will speak at Central College next week as part of the college’s Staley Distinguished Scholar Lecture Series. James Skillen will deliver a message titled “The Crisis of American Civility and Governance” to those in attendance.

Skillen is a senior fellow for the Center of Public Justice, which is an independent, nonpartisan organization devoted to policy research and civic education. He is also working on a writing project focusing on the biblical story as a foundation for the human responsibility of governance.

Skillen’s speech is part of the 38th year of the Staley Lecture Series at Central College, which was established by the Thomas F. Staley Foundation of New York to bring distinguished scholars to college campuses. The oration will be delivered in the Upper Chapel at a community worship service at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3rd.
