Saturday is a big day for the Pella High School Marching band. First, the Little Dutch will host nearly 40 other high schools representing all four classes in the State Marching Band Field Competition. After that, Pella will pack up their instruments and make the trip to Ankeny for the 21st Annual Mid-Iowa Band Championship. The State Competition at Pella High School will start at 9:50 a.m., and include marching bands from Knoxville, Melcher-Dallas, North Mahaska, PCM, Pleasantville and Twin Cedars, among others. Knoxville will perform at 1:00 p.m., with Pella following at 1:15 p.m.

PCM will join Pella at Ankeny High School as well for the Mid-Iowa Band Championship. The Mustangs Marching Band is scheduled to perform at 4:20 p.m., with the Little Dutch taking the field at 8:40 p.m. The prestigious competition features over 30 top bands invited to attend and perform to an audience that typically numbers between five and seven thousand people.
