Daylight Saving Time ends this Sunday at 2 a.m., and carbon monoxide and smoke detector batteries should be changed Sunday. Both the Knoxville and Pella Fire Departments say as Marion County residents set their clocks back one hour, they should change their smoke detector and carbon monoxide batteries. Daylight Saving Time has been pushed back a little earlier in recent years as part of a push to save energy: the earlier in the year the clocks “fall back”, the more sunlight, and less power-consuming bulbs, is being used. Knoxville Fire Department captain Barry Reynolds says it’s important to get in the habit of changing the batteries twice a year during the beginning and end of daylight saving time.
