Central College’s Justin Smool carded a 72 and tied for 11th place at the weather-shortened Twin Cities Classic Sunday as the Dutch men’s golf team shot a 305 to finish 13th in the team standings. Originally scheduled as a 54-hole tournament played on three top courses in the Minneapolis area, Saturday’s round was cancelled because of snow and today’s round was also called off because of forecasts for cold, wet weather. Conditions were dry yesterday with little wind and temperatures in the 30s so they decided to shorten the tournament to 18 holes. Central closes its fall slate with another opportunity to compete with nationally ranked foes at the Oglethorpe Royal Lakes Fall Classic Oct. 18-20 at the Royal Lakes Golf Course in Atlanta. The Dutch were seventh in an 11-team field there last fall.
