Both Knoxville and Pella’s unofficial student enrollment numbers look to be up compared to last year, which means more state funding. Knoxville’s estimated increase of 14 students takes the district to 1,959, while Pella increased 35 students to an unofficial 2,240 students. Both Knoxville Superintendent Dr. Randy Flack and Pella Superintendent Mark Wittmer welcome the increase. However, both tell KNIA/KRLS News that there might be another across-the-board cut due to dwindling revenues in Iowa, which would mean less money received per student.

In addition, although the state approved 2% allowable growth in funding per student, the legislature could decide not to fund it, among other options. The state Revenue Estimating Committee meets October 7th.
