Faced with a net $721,000 less in state funding by the end of this school year, the Knoxville School Board last night continued discussion on forming a school restructuring committee to look at ways to save money. The Board also reviewed potential goals to give the committee, including having the committee recommend efficient grade configurations based on the rate of student enrollment. More information is expected at a later date. In other news, the board continued discussion on anticipated physical plant projects around the school district, including various roof repair projects, boiler replacement, and playground resurfacing, among other issues.

In other news, the board received a report from high school principal Kevin Crawford on over 30 students who took college courses at DMACC and Central College on a variety of subjects. Crawford said it was encouraging to see enterprising students wanting to advance their education and earn college credit before they step foot on campus as college freshman.
