Pella went 4-1 on the day in matches and 10-1 in games to finish second at the Pella Volleyball Invitational Saturday. The Lady Dutch who are 5th ranked in Class 3A swept Knoxville, North Mahaska and Jefferson Scranton 2-0 on their way to the final but fell 2-1 to Mediapolis the 10th ranked team in Class 2A in the championship match. Hali Steenhoek had 44 kills and 9 blocks on the day, Brooke Fessler had 111 assists to go along with 12 blocks, and Lindsay Bentzinger had 40 digs. Pella was trying to win the tournament for the third straight year but came up a little short. The loss to Mediapolis also ended an astounding 28 straight match home win streak for Pella who is now 29-5 on the season. Pella hosts Norwalk Thursday, then finishes their conference season next Tuesday October 20th at Oskaloosa. A win in either of those matches will earn Pella the LHC championship.
