Marion County dog-owners need to get their dogs vaccinated for common diseases, especially rabies. That’s according to county Public Health Director Kim Dorn. She says recent dog-control ordinances that went into effect earlier this year are seeing health officials stepping up response to dog-related injuries, with other departments. Dorn says dogs that bite someone have to either be quarantined to 10 days for observation, or put to sleep and tested for rabies. Dorn encourages residents to get their pets vaccinated at a local veterinary clinic, and says pet-owners are responsible for any medical bills if their pet injuries someone.
