Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Vander Plaats made a stop in Pella Tuesday to gather support from residents as he makes his bid for the GOP nomination and the opportunity to run against Democrat Chet Culver in 2010.

Vander Plaats told KNIA/KRLS News, “We have a great team in place [in Pella], led by Irene Blom, and I’m very energized by what I see here and am excited about winning the Marion County and the city of Pella on June 8th 2010.”

Recently, the president of the Iowa and Nebraska Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People announced his support for Vander Plaats as the Republican gubernatorial candidate.
