Several state agencies will undoubtedly face cuts tied to the Governor’s 10% across-the-board cut in state spending, including the Iowa State Patrol. Courtney Greene, Chief of the Public Information Bureau for the Iowa Department of Public Safety says it is too soon to know how much each of the State Patrol’s districts will be affected, but says any cuts in personnel will be based on seniority.

Greene adds that cuts will vary from district to district and says more will be known about where the cuts are necessary in the next two to three months. District 14, which includes Marion County, currently has 20 sworn State Troopers on the force.
