Iowa’s tax-credit program for the film industry remains suspended while the Governor’s office searches for ways to better monitor the system and reduce the possibility for abuse. Still, many Iowans are unsure how the program even works, much less if it’s being misused.

Ann Wilkinson, Director of the PMS Casting Agency in Pella says it’s important to explain that money is not being handed out, but rather credited after filmmakers spend that amount in the state. She says the tax-credit program is a benefit to the state, as it has drawn in filmmakers from all over the nation and the world; providing an economic boost for the state and creating new jobs.
