The President and CEO of the Vermeer Corporation in Pella has been selected as the head of a Branstad campaign committee for former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad. Mary Andringa tells KNIA/KRLS News, “The purpose of the committee is to simply explore the availability of support and resources for a possible Branstad candidacy. Terry Branstad has not made a final decision on joining the race for governor, and remains focused on his responsibilities as President of Des Moines University.” Andringa has been CEO of Vermeer since 2003 and shares the position with her brother, Bob Vermeer.

In related news, state senator Paul McKinley, who was exploring a race for governor, tells KNIA/KRLS News that should Branstad formally enter the race, McKinley will withdraw from the race and focus on his leadership role in the senate to help return the Republican Party to a majority in the legislature.
