A one-acre wetland is being constructed on the site of 3M in Knoxville to create a living wildlife ‘laboratory’. That’s according to Jay Jung with the Marion County Natural Resources Conservation Service. He says the wetland is a collaborative effort between the conservation service, Pheasants Forever, 3M, and the state of Iowa, and will feature controllable water flow and planted grasses and shrubs which will provide habitat for pheasants and quail. Jung says the wetland will give residents the chance to watch the prairie change over time, and ties into the larger Competine Creek Watershed Project.
