Albia Man Dies in Saturday Collision

A 58-year-old Albia man was killed Saturday morning south of Knoxville, when the vehicle he was driving collided with a farm tractor in thick fog. The Iowa State Patrol reports Darl D. Mendenhall died after his Dodge Grand Caravan struck a farm tractor driven by 53-year-old Danny L. Pearson of Knoxville at 1372 Quebec Street. The report says Mendenhall was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the collision. Mendenhall was transported by ambulance to Knoxville Hospital and Clinics where he passed away due to injuries sustained in the accident. Charges are pending. The Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Iowa State Patrol, Columbia Rescue, Indiana Township, and Knoxville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.  KNIA/KRLS News will bring you more information as soon as it becomes official.
