The new Applebee’s restaurant in Pella was officially opened for business following a ribbon-cutting Monday morning. Restaurant General Manager Justin Trenkamp tells KNIA/KRLS News that it feels good to have the doors open for business, and says the trial runs for special invitation serving times leading up to the official opening of the restaurant went very well.

Trenkamp says the opening of the Pella location is the 23rd Applebee’s owned by the Apple Corp. franchise to open in Iowa, along with two others in Illinois. Trenkamp and his management staff interviewed 400 employee candidates – narrowed down from over 800 applicants – to select the restaurant’s staff. There are 130 full and part time employees.

The restaurant, located at 1600 Washington in Pella, will feature a “Carside to Go” service, and will be open seven days a week. Applebee’s will open daily at 11:00 a.m.; closing at 10:00 p.m. on Sundays, 10:30 p.m. on Monday through Thursdays, and 11:00 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights.
