A roadway improvement project was approved for a high-risk road in western Marion County Monday. County Engineer Roger Schletzbaum says the high crash rate on a curvy part of Highway G40 west of Pleasantville qualified the road for $500,000 in a state high-risk rural road program. The around $1.3 million project will smooth out sharp curves on G-40 and improve visibility by reducing some obstructing hills. Schletzbaum says the rest of the budget project will be paid for by $300,000 from federal funds and $500,000 from the county’s farm-to-market funds. A bridge replacement over Coal Creek just north of Indiana drive is another part of the project. Bid-letting is set for June 2010.
