The recent extension and expansion of the home buyer tax credit program at the federal level should help more people move into new homes and continue to help the housing market as a whole. That’s according to Jody Lautenbach, Owner of Century 21 in Pella. She says the local housing market is steadily improving, and the extension should help continue that.

Kathy Caviness, owner of Sundance Realty in Knoxville adds that the addition of a $6,500 tax credit for qualified established home buyers will also help more people own a new home. The expansion of the program will make it available to more people, while the extension gives prospective home buyers until April 30, 2010 to take advantage of the tax credit, with a closing deadline of July 1.
