Knoxville Cross Country Coach Mike Moats asked his runners to do some running and workout in the offseason. Timothy Shepherd is heeding that statement as he won the Jingle Bell five-K run Saturday in Washington. Shepherd evidently had another goal in mind and that was to win the event after placing second last year. Shepherd’s winning time was 17 minutes 46 seconds. Shepherd helped Knoxville this past fall to a ninth place finish at the class three-A state meet. He is one of six returning runners that will run for Knoxville next season.
