The retirement of a long-time instructor at Pella High School was announced at this week’s school board meeting. Physical Education instructor and tennis coach Margene VanHorn will retire at the end of the school year, after 33 years of service to the district. Pella Schools Superintendent Mark Wittmer says VanHorn has been a valuable asset to the district in her time as an educator.
”We just appreciate her like you can’t imagine because Margene always sees a bigger picture,” Wittmer said. “I appreciate that on her part, and she’s been a great role model for kids as well, so we’ll miss her greatly.”
Margene’s husband, Bill VanHorn is the Athletic Director at Pella High School.
