The Pella volleyball team continues their preparations as they are just two days away from opening play in their fourth straight Class 3A State Volleyball tournament. A common theme when you talk to players or coaches is teh fact that this year, they aren’t satisfied just making it to state, they want to win matches and challenge for a state championship. A big key to Pella’s success all season has been their balance. Hali Steenhoek has led Pella in kills all season, but Kelsi Rempe, Brooke Fessler, and Jordyn Vandelune are also major weapons up front hitting and blocking, Brooke Fessler is Pella’s All State setter and she says having so many options is a great weapon and keeps defenses guessing. Pella enters the state tournament with their best ever record at 39-5 and is ranked 4th in Class 3A. They will play 5th ranked, defending state champion Marion Wednesday night at 7:15pm at the US Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids. You can hear the match live on 92.1 FM KRLS with Jamie Brockman and Wynne Veenstra starting around 7pm. Due to state regulations the broadcast will not be streamed live on kniakrls.com or available for on demand or download.
