Radium Girls, a play inspired by a true story, will open Wednesday at Central College. Ann Wilkinson, director of the production, says the play tells the story of a woman fighting for her day in court during a time of reform for industrial hygiene and workers’ rights.
Alissa Olson, a senior at Central and an actress and production technician for the play says the audience can expect to see some interesting techniques used on stage.
“There is the main plot that goes on, and then we jump in with some headlines as they come in. It’s an interesting way of updating the audience on where we’re at in time,” says Olson. “[The audience] definitely will see people jumping back and forth [between characters] a lot. It’ going to be a lot of fun.”
Olson adds that actors playing multiple roles and the time period – along with the span of time covered in the play – have made for a challenging but rewarding experience.
Radium Girls will be performed Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Kruidenier Theatre at Central College. Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens. For tickets or additional information, call 628-5335.
