The Knoxville City Council approved a $3.74 million sewer project this week, in another step to meet mandates from the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, or DNR. The low-bid for the 2009 West Area Relief Sewer Project was awarded to Van Hauen & Associates and Reilly Co., Inc., a Joint Venture. The project would install new sanitary sewer mains at Roche and Competine Creek, ending at Highway 14 and West Pleasant Street. 30% of the project would be paid in economic stimulus funds, with the rest coming from a State-Revolving Fund, or SRF, loan.
