One person was life-flighted by Iowa Methodist helicopter to Des Moines and one transported to Knoxville Hospital and Clinics after the car they were in was rear-ended by a pickup at a road construction site near Attica Thursday.  The accident occurred at 2048 Highway 5, and temporarily blocked traffic as crews worked for over 30 minutes to extract two people from their small blue sedan from Appanoose County, which was struck from behind by the pickup with Monroe County plates.  The driver of the pick-up was not injured.  Knoxville Rescue, Indiana Township Fire Department, Bussey Rescue, Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies and Iowa State Patrol all responded to the scene.  A flagman working at the site says the driver of the sedan stopped at a “slow” sign when it was rear-ended.
