Veteran’s Day is next Wednesday, and area events are planned to honor those who have served our country that day. A free breakfast for veterans is being held at the skate pit kin Knoxville from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and is sponsored by Hy-Vee, Iowa State Savings Bank, Wells Fargo, and Valley Bank, and the Amvets Post 63.

Northstar Elementary students in Knoxville have a flag raising ceremony beginning at 9:30 a.m. that day, and will then have a special program honoring veterans in the gym.

Events are also planned at the VA Campus and area nursing homes. In Pella, area veterans Tony Hoekstra and Bob De Ronde Honor Flight trip to Washington D.C. That event will be held at the Pella Public Library Wednesday starting at 2 p.m., and for more information call 628-4268.
