Tuesday night Sam Abens became just the second player to join the 1,000 point club in girls basketball at Knoxville in the five-on-five era. Coach Jim Utimarkt says Abens really does not care how many points she scores. He says the coaching staff has been trying to get her to be a little more selfish and score a little more. Abens is just 198 points from becoming the all-time scoring leader in Knoxville history in five-on-five. She needs to average at least 10.4 points per game to attain that mark.
