Two Central College football players and a handful of members of the team’s staff are in Mexico right now preparing for Saturday’s “Bowl of the Stars.” The game pits a team of Division III all-stars against some of the top players from universities in Mexico. Central co-defensive coordinator Don DeWaard, who is one of the coaches for the squad, says many of the players and their families are surprised to find out how popular football is in Mexico. The players and coaches arrived in Mexico this past weekend and have been training at a facility near Mexico City since Monday. The “Bowl of the Stars” game will be played on Saturday.
