The Central College women’s basketball team begins Iowa Conference play tonight with an uphill battle. The Dutch host 19th-ranked Simpson College in the first part of a women’s-men’s doubleheader at P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium. Central Women’s Head Coach Jerry Nikkel says they’ll have to beat Simpson’s pressure defense if they want to stay in the game, but says there are opportunities to score if his young team can consistently get past the defense. The Central women are 1-4 going into tonight’s contest, which tips off at 6:00 p.m., followed by the men’s game at around 8:00 p.m. in Pella.
