Injuries to several leaders on the Central College women’s basketball team have led to a rough 2-8 start to begin the season, but it’s also created some opportunities for many of the team’s younger players. One of those players is sophomore Kelsey Schuring, who is just one of just a handful of players on the Dutch roster to have played in all ten of Central’s games this season (she has started in seven of those.) The Pella native is averaging 8.4 points per game this season, which is third best on the team, and is shooting 45.5 percent from beyond the three-point line, which is tops on the team for any player with more than one attempt. Schuring went into the holiday break coming off of her top scoring performance of the season – a 16 point effort in a 95-57 loss to Northwestern College. The Central women are back in action on Monday, as they will take part in the Southwestern University Invitation in Georgetown, Texas, which will wrap up the non-conference portion of the schedule for the Dutch.
