Central College running back David Zachary has been named as one of the ten finalists for the 17th Annual Gagliardi Award. The honor is given to the most outstanding player in NCAA Division III, as chosen by a national selection committee. Zachary, a senior, led the Iowa Conference in rushing with a 124.2 yards per game average and totaled 17 touchdowns, while helping lead Central to a 10-0 season.

For the third year, fans will be able to rank the ten finalists and cast an electronic ballot collectively that will be added to the 35 votes of the national selection committee. Ballots may be cast through 12:00 p.m. on Monday, December 7 at D3football.com. Fans may only vote one time.

The Gagliardi Trophy is named for Saint John’s University head football coach John Gagliardi, the first active head coach to be inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame and the winningest coach in college football history with a record of 471-126-11. The 17th annual Gagliardi award will be presented on Thursday, December 17, in Salem, Virginia.
