The Knoxville City Council Monday approved the submittal of a State Revolving Fund, or SRF, loan application for the amount of $3,936,742.47 to finance the West Area Relief Sewer Project at the direction of the Iowa DNR. Knoxville City Manager Dick Schrad says this process started several years ago when the DNR informed the city that they had only three years to correct what are called sanitary sewer overflow conditions. The project covers an area, roughly, from Competine Street at Roche Street to Pleasant and Highway 14. Schrad says the project will be started this winter and could be wrapped up by early 2011.
