A 55 year old man died in a house fire at 510 South Sixth Street in Knoxville early Thursday morning, with the cause unknown. Knoxville Fire & Rescue was called on scene at 1:58 am, and had the blaze under control in about 20 minutes with crews fighting hot spots in the building for well over two hours.   Officials tell KNIA KRLS News that the home is likely a total loss. Marion County property records show that the deed to the property is held by Karl Kloster of rural Marion County. Knoxville Township Fire, Knoxville Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies also responded to the scene.

The state Fire Marshall arrived while crews were still on scene and has begun an investigation into the cause of the fire. A medical examiner with the Knoxville Fire Department is investigating the cause of death of the victim. A power line was also affected near the property, and Mid-American Energy and Alliant Energy crews responded. Fire crews remained on scene through the early morning hours. KNIA/KRLS will bring you more information as soon as it becomes official.
