The 2009-10 season opens tonight for the Pella boys basketball team, as the Little Dutch take on Newton in Little Hawkeye Conference play. Head Coach Mark Core says he’s hoping to see the team rebound well on defense and try and pick up some quick points in transition play. Core adds that his team is more focused on what they can do to improve early in the season, than what Newton will do; and says it won’t be until the second run through the conference that the team will focus on match-ups with specific opponents. Tonight’s Pella boys basketball game is the second half of a girl/boy doubleheader that will be streamed live at kniakrls.com. Eric Gotschall and Randy Sikkema will go live from Newton starting at 6:00 p.m., with the girls game to tip off at 6:15 p.m. The games can also be heard on a delayed broadcast on 92.1 FM KRLS starting around 10pm tonight.
