So far this season the theme of Pella boys basketball has been hustle and aggressive play and it’s paid off as the Little Dutch are 5-1 overall and 4-0 in the LHC tied for the top spot with Norwalk. Coach Mark Core says they’ve talked alot about what each players roles are on the team this year and how to best use those roles to help the team and so far the guys have bought in to that. There’s not one or two star players on the team this year, everyone contributes and the season stats to date show just that. Nathan Buchheit leads the team in scoring at 12 points per game and Blaine Forsythe averages 11, but there are six players who average four or more points per game. Another characteristic of the Pella boys this year is unselfish play. There are five players with double digitt assists on the season so far led by Forsythe and Matt Dowie with 19 each and there players with 10 or more steals led by Josh Pringle with 13. Coach Core says it’s that type of play that has led them to the point they are at now and they plan to continue building off that for the second half of the season. Pella returns to action January 5th when they host Knoxville.
