After a brief warm-up on Wednesday, a cold front will cause a significant drop in temperatures leading into the weekend. Dr. Tim Dykstra, physician in the emergency department at Pella Regional Health Center, says cases of hypothermia become quite common at this time of the year, particularly when the wind chill pushes the temperature below zero. Dykstra says staying hydrated, dressing in loose layers of clothing and staying dry are all ways to combat hypothermia and recommends limiting outdoor exposure or going inside as soon as you start to feel cold.
