A two vehicle accident north of Centerville Sunday night claimed the life of a Monroe woman. 20-year-old Natalie Jean Bunnell was traveling southbound on Highway 5 when her vehicle drifted across the center line and collided head-on with a northbound semi at approximately 11:30 p.m. Both vehicles came to a rest in the ditch. Bunnell was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center in Centerville where she was pronounced dead. She was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The driver of the semi, a 47-year-old man from Keosauqua, was uninjured in the accident. The Appanoose County Sheriff’s Office, Appanoose County Ambulance and Moravia First Responders and Fire Unit all responded to the scene, which was investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.
