Iowa Department of Transportation is not advising travel on most roadways northwest of Marion County including highways to Des Moines. Roadways are slick and potentially hazardous. The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports that roadways in the county are 100% ice and snow covered and potentially dangerous, and they urge caution if you must drive this morning. Iowa DOT crews are currently plowing state roads, and county plows will be out beginning at 7 AM. Please give our first responders and all road crews plenty of room if you must drive today.

English Creek South of Knoxville is two feet over flood stage and Cedar Creek near Bussey is at flood stage as a result of yesterday’s early rain and snow melt. The National Weather Service reports that a flood warning is in effect for Cedar Creek, but that water levels are falling and they expect flood waters to subside mid-morning.

The one to count on for the most up to the minute reports on road information and flooding conditions during severe weather is KNIA KRLS.
