Central College will host a pair of events in honor of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday. Jennifer Harvey, an associate professor of religion and ethics at Drake University will deliver a presentation titled “King’s Vision, Your Voice: Creating Unlikely Alliances in a Broken World” at 11:00 a.m. in Douwstra Auditorium. Harvey is currently researching white Protestant responses to contemporary reparations movements emerging within the mainline Protestant Christianity.

In the evening, Chris Weaver of Freeport, New York, will perform a vocal concert in honor of Dr. King. The performance is titled “A Tribute to MLK: An Evening with Chris Weaver” and will start at 8:00 p.m. in Grand Central Station in the Maytag Student Center on the Central College campus. Both events are free and open to the public.
