Knoxville finished sixth and Pella finished seventh at the Little Hawkeye Conference Wrestling Meet yesterday. The Panthers got a championship from Jay Fresh at 103 pounds with second place finishes going to Lane Colwell at 130 and Colton Spaur at 152 pounds. Coach Eric Whitcome said the effort was outstanding from everyone and while they did meet their goal of finishing better than last year…he says sixth place still will not be good enough next season. Pella’s A-J Arrendell was the lone champion for the Little Dutch as he took the 189 pound title and claimed his third straight conference title. Kyle Langstraat had a great day finishing third at 112 pounds and Brent Smith was also third at 135 pounds. Coach Joe Burch said he was disappointed in the finish. He was pleased with the third place that Langstaat grabbed and was also pleased with Arrendell’s effort all day long. Pella had three open weights which really hurtthem in the team points.
